It didn’t take POUNCE long to reward her connections for paying a sale topping $370,000 for her at last month’s Fasig-Tipton February Digital Sale when registering her first stakes victory in Saturday’s Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3).
Making her stakes debut for new owner Resolute Racing while continuing under the tutelage of trainer Mark Casse, POUNCE made a huge impression in the one-mile turf race. Breaking slowly, the Highgate graduate spent much of the race as the back marker when over five lengths behind the leader.
Slowly making her move around the turn, jockey Javier Castellano angled her widest of all in the stretch to make sure nothing would stop her momentum. That worked perfectly with POUNCE showing another big turn of foot to get her head in front late and win by a neck at the line.

“It was a beautiful trip. [Life’s an Audible] came out a little bit and my horse hesitated a little bit to go past, but I encouraged her and she responded really well,” Castellano said.
POUNCE was consigned to the Digital Sale on behalf of Quintessential Racing Florida and Hat Creek Racing just days after winning an Allowance Optional Claiming race by 2 ¼ lengths last month. Resolute Bloodstock snapped up the Lookin At Lucky 3-year-old for $370,000 to easily make her the most expensive horse of the sale.
